Check boat ramp access by vessel type

Lake Powell ramps are not simply open or closed for everyone. Some allow motorboats but not paddlecraft; others are limited to non-motorized boats. Choose your vessel type to see how the National Park Service describes each launch.

Ramp access can change with lake levels, road work and vessel restrictions. A listed minimum elevation does not guarantee a ramp is usable. Always check NPS before you travel.

Why does boat type matter?

Access depends on the individual ramp surface, lake elevation, vessel length, trailer clearance and active work. A location marked Use caution carries restrictions or risks; it is not a guarantee you can launch safely. Always read the launch details for your intended ramp.

Before leaving for the lake

Check the official NPS Lake Powell launch updates that day. Confirm your boat size is permitted, watch for special instructions about ramps or steel plates, and have a backup plan. Boating restrictions and marina services can change independently of the water level.
